Shanks

Elko County School District School Nurse Coordinator Bobbi Shanks has been honored with the title of Nevada School Nurse Administrator of the Year by The Nevada State Association of School Nurses. This recognition serves as a testament to Shanks' dedication to the health, safety, and academic success of school-age children across the county.

The award was presented to Shanks by Spring Creek Middle School Nurse Nicole Rosengarten, who also holds the position of president within the association. During the May 21 school board meeting, Rosengarten shared remarks about Shanks' contributions to the field.

Having served as a licensed nurse within the school district since 1994, Shanks assumed the role of coordinator in 2013. Her accreditation as an American Heart Association Training Faculty allows ECSD nurses to become CPR instructors, further enhancing the safety protocols within school premises.

Additionally, Shanks is recognized by the National Association of School Nurses as a Data Champion and Influencer for her efforts in encouraging numerous school nurses to become nationally certified. She held the position of Johnson & Johnson School Health Fellow, promoting leadership in school nursing, and dedicated four years on the Board of Directors for the National Association for School Nurses, representing Nevada.

Her nomination for this award stemmed not only from colleagues within Elko County but also from school nurse administrators statewide.

Her dedication embodies the spirit of the Nevada State Association of School Nurses' mission to foster collaboration and excellence in school nursing, ensuring brighter and healthier futures for all students. Congratulations, Nurse Shanks, on this well-deserved recognition!
